sandy quartermane was born in 1721 in a small town on the firth of forth in scotland. his real name was huston durth quartermane but due to his hair color and whatever else, he was early on called sandy. he married young and had one child and also one very good chum rory.

it wasn't easy for most to make a comfy living on the firth, so when sandy heard stories of exotic overseas adventures and the riches that accompanied them, he shared the tales with rory and together they decided to join the ranks of piratry. and after a not-so-brief chat with his wife and with more than a little reservation, sandy departed with rory on the next ship out.

well several years on the open sea can bring pleasure, sometimes treasure, often hardship. together the two friends sampled countless new colors, brilliant flavors and fascinating peoples. they fought fierce battles and helped each other tend to injury and illness. together they learned to hate the spanish.

yet they never achieved the notoriety (they sometimes desired) of the likes of blackbeard or that other sandy - sandy gordon, since they never became quite as rich or quite as terrifying.

rory eventually died during a big storm in the caribbean. the storm didn't kill him; he died of malnutrition. this resulted in sandy's retirement from pirate life and since he was at the time somewhere off the coast of venezuela, he docked his ship on the beautiful coral-reefed island of carriacou. and there he remained - pining for his family, drinking lots of scotch with other expat scots while bellowing out sad and lovely shanties, eventually dying of pancreatic cancer from his unresolved anger.

but sandy had found treasure at some point. and where is it now?
